We Are a Directory, Not a Certifier

It is important to clarify: Figtree Directory is not a Halal certification body. We do not issue Halal certificates, nor do we perform laboratory testing or slaughterhouse inspections.

The official Halal status of any business—whether it’s a butcher, a restaurant, or a pharmacy—remains the sole responsibility of the business owner and the recognized Islamic certification authorities they choose to work with.

Our “Best Ability” Guarantee

While we aren’t the ones in the kitchen or the cold room, we don’t just “blindly” list businesses either. We use our “Best Ability” to verify the information provided to us:

• Checking Credentials: When a business claims to be Halal, we ask for their certification details or check their standing with known community organizations.

• Manual Verification: Our team (led by Tarek’s commitment to community service) manually reviews every submission. If something looks “off” or outdated, we investigate before we verify.

• Community Reporting: We rely on you. If the community reports that a listing has changed its status or lost its certification, we act within 48 hours to update or remove that listing.

Why We Are So Transparent

In our “9 Things Your Parents Taught You” post, we mentioned that honesty is easier to remember. By being clear that we are a connector and not a certifier, we protect the integrity of the directory and the safety of your family’s choices.

We do the heavy lifting of mapping the community so you can spend less time searching and more time connecting. However, we always encourage our users to perform their own final “due diligence”—just as you would when visiting any new place.
